History

The Swingin’ into Spring workshops weekend started in 1995 as a workshop weekend without competitions.

In 2008 We joined the World Swing Dance Council and became a registry event

Until the 2020 Covid shutdown, the event was held at the Hartford Hilton Hotel, as most events have been over time.

Unfortunately, The Hartford/Springfield area lost over 2,000 hotel rooms due to the shutdown, repurposed as assisted living centers, apartments, and other uses.

The last few years we held the event at the Polish Home, 9 First ST Windsor Locks, Ct. It Wasn’t ideal, but it kept the event alive.

Current Times

For 2026 we are now back in a hotel … The Ramada Inn, Windsor Locks, CT. The hotel changed hands about 8 months ago, and has gone under extensive renovations … with more to come. This will be the first event of this type the new management will experience. The other hotel owned does not have a ballroom this size. There is a bar & resteraunt on the premises, and should be fully operational by the time the event occurs. For 2026 we are going back to a similar schedule we used at the Hilton.
